The gold toilet is a symbolic work of art aptly named 'America', and it is meant to remind us our excessive love for material wealth.
The unique thing about the toilet is it is not exclusive for the wealthy. Rather it is the opposite.
The new work makes available to the public an extravagant luxury product seemingly intended for the wealthy 'one percent'. Members of the public are invited to use the toilet for a price of the standard fee for admission into the museum. You pay the Museum fee, sit on 'America' and do your business.
So far so good the work of art has been 'flushed' with success as visitors line up to sit down on the bling bowl.
